On Orders Over £55Bread has been a staple in our diets for many years but do we really consider what is in it? A large proportion of the bread we buy is bleached, blanched and nutrient stripped – made from processed wheat and as well as containing salt and preservatives, some loaves also contain sugar. Rye and Pumpernickel breads (popular in Scandanavia and Germany) are something of an acquired taste and tend to have a heavier texture. They also have a low glycaemic index (GI) which means they are converted into sugar very slowly and will leave you feeling fuller for longer and prevent a big increase in insulin levels. These breads are made with high quality ingredients with the grains being freshly ground just before baking creating loaves full of wholegrain goodness needed as part of a healthy diet.
