Garlic

Garlic belongs to the genus Allium and is therefore a close relative of the chive, leek, onion and shallot. It contains the highest sulphur content of any member of the genus, and its trace elements, Selenium & germanium, are thought to be important factors in the herb's potent medicinal properties. Native to North-Eastern Iran and Central Asia, garlic is now a firmly established seasoning worldwide, with a history of use spanning several thousands of years.

How much garlic can you eat?

For adults, recommended consumption of garlic is one clove, eaten no more than 2-3 times per day. When consumed in the form of a Food supplement, dosages are generally between 600 -1,200mg per day.

What is the health benefit of garlic?

Garlic is highly nutritious food source with very few calories, which may benefit those on a strict Slimming & Weight Loss plan. Medicinally, many of garlic's proposed health benefits seem overblown, however there is no doubting its anti-inflammatory effects, which may help to lower Blood Pressure & Cholesterol, as well as support the Immune System.
