What's the difference between this Spearmint Xylitol Gum & the regular brands of sugar-free gum?
The difference between Peppersmith Mighty Box Spearmint Xylitol Chewing Gum and regular sugar-free gum is that xylitol actively reduces the bacteria that cause these acids in the first place, and so prevents problems before they start. Some sugar-free gum does contain xylitol but usually in very small amounts and the important thing with xylitol is that you need to have 5g a day to get the dental benefits (see 'What does xylitol do' in the summary tab).

They usually say the best things come in small packages, but the Peppersmith Spearmint Mighty Box offers more bang for your buck, with more gum for less money. In fact, it contains more than a week’s worth of xylitol, making them a great way of hitting the dentists recommended 5g of xylitol a day. This should be split into a few servings, ideally after each meal or snack (when there’s risk of acid attack).
What is xylitol?
Xylitol is a naturally derived sugar alternative (‘Xyl’ is Greek for wood – think ‘xylophone’) that is found in lots of living things, such as beech trees and vegetables. The xylitol used in Peppersmith Mighty Box Spearmint Xylitol Chewing Gum has been sourced from European suppliers with very strict sustainability policies and GMO free guarantees.
What does xylitol do?
Tooth decay starts with harmful bacteria in the mouth. Sugary foods give these bacteria energy to multiply and produce acids that dissolve the enamel of the tooth and cause decay. Xylitol has the opposite effect, inhibiting their growth, killing the bacteria (they can fall by as much as 90%) and preventing acid attacks.
Can I recycle the Peppersmith Spearmint Mighty Box packaging?
Yes! You’ll be glad to know that Peppersmith Spearmint Mighty Boxes are made from PEFC and FSC approved cardboard and is 100% recyclable with your local household recycling.
